R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Veteran broadcaster Robert Hallmark of Midland
  retired from KCRS AM radio in Odessa in January 2017, drawing to a
  close a notable career on the air that spanned more than four
  decades; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hallmark gained his first experience in radio at
  the age of 16, at KERC in Eastland; he went on to work at KRBC in
  Abilene, KXYL in Brownwood, KEAN in Abilene, KFXE in Little Rock,
  and KNFO in Waco before joining KCRS as program director in 1992;
  and
         WHEREAS, In 2001, Mr. Hallmark led KCRS's transition to a
  news-talk format, and that same year, he began hosting the
  station's Morning Drive show; he was joined on air two years later
  by his friend Kurt Verlei, and the show became one of the top five
  programs in the Midland-Odessa market, averaging 30,000 listeners a
  week with its combination of national and local news, call-in
  comments, and interviews with celebrities and political figures;
  the two cohosts are retiring together and turning the show over to a
  new team; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hallmark is the recipient of a 2016 Odessa
  Heroes Award for public service from the Salvation Army; he is
  supported in all his endeavors by the love of a treasured family
  that includes his wife, Jill, and their children and
  children-in-law, Jarod and Stephanie Hallmark, Allie and Alex
  Williams, and Haylie and Sean Crawford, as well as their grandson,
  Zachary Magner; and
         WHEREAS, Robert Hallmark's professionalism, dedication to
  his work, and commitment to his community have greatly benefited
  KCRS and its listeners, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a
  career well spent as he embarks upon the next exciting chapter of
  his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Robert Hallmark on his retirement
  from KCRS radio and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Hallmark as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
