R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks reached yet
  another milestone in his exceptional career on March 7, 2017, when
  he scored his 30,000th point in a game against the Los Angeles
  Lakers; and
         WHEREAS, By sinking a baseline jump shot in the second
  quarter, Mr. Nowitzki became the sixth member of the elite
  30,000-point club, alongside fellow NBA legends Kareem
  Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and Wilt
  Chamberlain; moreover, he joined Mr. Malone and Mr. Bryant in being
  the only players to accomplish that feat with one team; the
  superstar power forward went on to tally 25 points and 11 rebounds
  in the matchup against the Lakers, helping lead the Mavericks to a
  122-111 victory; and
         WHEREAS, Tallying point number 30,000 is just the latest in
  Mr. Nowitzki's impressive record of achievements; during his 19
  seasons with Dallas, he has earned a place on 13 All-Star teams and
  garnered All-NBA honors 12 times, and he was crowned the league's
  Most Valuable Player in 2007; he has also helped guide the Mavericks
  to 15 playoff berths, and in 2011, he was named the NBA Finals MVP
  after piloting the team to the first championship title in
  franchise history; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of nearly two decades, Dirk Nowitzki
  has proved himself one of the greatest athletes to ever play the
  game, and it is a pleasure to join with basketball fans across the
  Lone Star State and beyond in commemorating this historic
  achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dirk Nowitzki on scoring his
  30,000th career point and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Nowitzki as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
