R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Four seniors from Crosbyton High School, Timothy
  Appling, Briana Garcia, Kenley Henn, and Rose Williams, won the
  2017 H2YOU water conservation awareness contest after presenting
  their project before a panel of judges on January 30, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, The competition is sponsored by the High Plains
  Underground Water Conservation District in Lubbock, a body that
  focuses on conserving and protecting groundwater in the aquifers
  found within the 16 counties it serves; the first-place prize is an
  all-expenses-paid trip to Austin, where the students on the winning
  team present their municipal water conservation campaign proposal
  to their state legislator and members of the Texas Water
  Development Board; and
         WHEREAS, Under the guidance of sponsors Sharon West and Ben
  Stokes, the group from Crosbyton High School used the theme
  "Investigating Possibilities" to examine the city of Crosbyton's
  current water resources and explore potential water conservation
  strategies, such as retrofitting the existing water treatment plant
  at White River Lake for greater efficiency and reusing treated
  wastewater in nonpotable applications; this is the third year in a
  row that students from the Crosbyton Independent School District
  have won the contest; and
         WHEREAS, With their fine showing in the H2YOU competition,
  these outstanding young Texans have brought credit to themselves
  and to their school, and they may take justifiable pride in the
  impressive results of their hard work and their deep engagement in a
  vital issue; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Crosbyton High School team on
  winning the 2017 H2YOU water conservation awareness contest and
  extend to Timothy Appling, Briana Garcia, Kenley Henn, and Rose
  Williams sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
