R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Jose |
|
Juan Esquivel Sr. of Robstown, who passed away on February 25, 2017, |
|
at the age of 75; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Noberto Esquivel and Paula Gutierrez |
|
Esquivel, Johnny Esquivel was born in Alice on May 13, 1941; he grew |
|
up in Robstown with four brothers, Crisanto, Daniel, Noberto, and |
|
Joe, and two sisters, Mena and Minerva; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Esquivel shared a fulfilling marriage of 53 |
|
years with his wife, Maria Esquivel; he was the devoted father of |
|
Jose Juan "Johnny" Esquivel Jr., and he took great pride in his |
|
grandchildren, Jose Juan "Trey" Esquivel III, Ashley Esquivel, and |
|
Kevin Esquivel, and in his great-grandchildren, Mallory, Hailey, |
|
Valerie, Riley, Candace, Cyenna, and Caroline; a man of faith, he |
|
was a valued member of St. Anthony Catholic Church; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan began his 55-year career in |
|
restaurant management at Joe Cotten's BBQ, and he was subsequently |
|
employed by Mike Cotten's BBQ; his contributions earned the |
|
affection and appreciation of his customers and three generations |
|
of Cotten restaurateurs; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although Johnny Esquivel will be deeply missed, he |
|
has left his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they |
|
will forever treasure; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Johnny Esquivel Sr. |
|
and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jose Juan |
|
"Johnny" Esquivel Sr. |
