R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the untimely passing
  of John Wesley McWhorter of Longview, who died on March 1, 2017, at
  the age of 50; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Johnny and Lynda McWhorter, Wes McWhorter
  was born in Panama City, Florida, on July 15, 1966; he graduated
  from Longview High School and went on to play football at Texas
  Christian University before transferring to Stephen F. Austin State
  University, where he was a pitcher on the baseball team; and
         WHEREAS, After earning his bachelor's degree in kinesiology,
  Mr. McWhorter moved to Dallas and spent the next several years
  working at Chelsea Corner, a restaurant which he co-owned, and
  later as an assistant golf professional and a catering and
  restaurant manager; he eventually returned to Longview, and in
  2006, he discovered what he felt was his life's calling when he
  became a teacher and coach for the Leverett's Chapel Independent
  School District; dedicated to the students and athletes in whom he
  invested countless hours, he remained at LCISD until his retirement
  in August 2016; and
         WHEREAS, Although his loss brings immeasurable sorrow, Wes
  McWhorter's example of selflessness, strength of character, and
  generosity will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of
  knowing him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John Wesley McWhorter
  and extend deepest condolences to the members of his family: to his
  fiancée, Mary Moseley Taylor, and her children, Jacob and Josh; to
  his brother, David McWhorter, and his wife, Susan; to his sister,
  Lori McWhorter Wright, and her husband, Andy; to his nephew,
  William McWhorter; to his nieces, Rylee and Baylee Yates; and to his
  many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Wes
  McWhorter.
