R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Criselda I. Castillo was one of five Texas A&M
  University--Corpus Christi employees who were named 2016 40 Under
  40 honorees by Corpus Christi Under 40; and
         WHEREAS, Each year, CCU40 recognizes 40 men and women under
  the age of 40 who have worked to make a positive difference in the
  Corpus Christi area through both their professional and community
  endeavors; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Castillo currently serves as principal of the
  Early Childhood Development Center, a joint venture between the
  Corpus Christi Independent School District and TAMU--CC; during her
  15 years as an educator, she has worked as a high school teacher and
  served as an assistant principal at Baker Middle School; she has
  also been responsible for implementing a number of different
  programs, including Advancement Via Individual Determination, the
  International Baccalaureate framework, the Positive Behavior
  Improvement System, and the Gomez and Gomez Dual Language
  Enrichment Model, and she was part of the Texas Schools to Watch
  campus visitation team; and
         WHEREAS, Active in myriad professional organizations,
  Dr. Castillo is a member of the National Association for Bilingual
  Education, the Association of Texas Professional Educators, and the
  Corpus Christi Principals and Supervisors Association; she holds a
  bachelor's degree from the University of the Incarnate Word and
  master's and doctoral degrees in education from TAMU--CC; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Criselda Castillo has set an outstanding example
  of professional achievement and civic engagement, and she may take
  justifiable pride in her contributions to the Coastal Bend
  community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Criselda I. Castillo on her
  selection as a 2016 Corpus Christi 40 Under 40 honoree and extend to
  her sincere best wishes for continued success in her important
  work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Castillo as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
