R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of First Baptist Church in Mount |
|
Pleasant are honoring Dr. Clinton L. Davis on May 24, 2017, for 25 |
|
years of dedicated service to that congregation; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of a Baptist minister, Clint Davis grew up in |
|
Louisiana and was ordained by the Peniel Baptist Church in West |
|
Monroe in 1978; after graduating from Louisiana College in |
|
Pineville in 1981, he attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological |
|
Seminary, where he earned a master of divinity degree and a doctor |
|
of ministry degree; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dr. Davis began his ministerial career at Pleasant |
|
Hill Baptist Church in Chatham, Louisiana, in 1978 and went on to |
|
serve congregations in Spearsville, Shreveport, and Haughton; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since assuming the pastorate at FBC Mount Pleasant |
|
in 1992, Dr. Davis has contributed to his community as treasurer of |
|
the Cypress Basin Hospice Board of Directors and as a trustee for |
|
East Texas Baptist University, and he is active in the Mount |
|
Pleasant Rotary Club; moreover, he is a member of the executive |
|
board and the mission funding group for the Baptist General |
|
Convention of Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Davis enjoys the love and |
|
support of his wife, Cindy, and their three children, Heather, |
|
Rachel, and Joshua; and |
|
WHEREAS, This inspiring clergyman has led First Baptist |
|
Church in Mount Pleasant with conviction and compassion, and he has |
|
earned the lasting respect and admiration of his congregants as |
|
well as members of the greater community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Clinton L. Davis on his 25th |
|
anniversary as pastor of First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant and |
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success with his |
|
important work; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Dr. Clinton L. Davis as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
