R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
  passing of Leonardo V. Camarillo of Edinburg on November 15, 2016,
  at the age of 81; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Manuel and Julia Camarillo, Leonardo
  Camarillo answered his nation's call to duty as a member of the
  United States Army; he served in Europe with D Company, 2nd Armored
  Rifle Battalion, 48th Infantry and subsequently completed a
  deployment with the 49th Armored Division; after returning to
  civilian life, he farmed in Hidalgo County for more than half a
  century; and
         WHEREAS, A dedicated public servant as well, Mr. Camarillo
  won three elections as Hidalgo County commissioner for Precinct 4
  and worked as city manager of Elsa for three years; in addition, he
  served as president of the South Texas County Judges and
  Commissioners Association and the Lower Rio Grande Valley
  Development Council, as a member of the board of the North Alamo
  Water Supply Corporation, and as a volunteer for numerous other
  local organizations; he was also appointed by Governor Mark White
  to serve on the State Job Training Council; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Camarillo enjoyed a fulfilling marriage with
  his wife, Diana, and over the years, he was blessed with a fine
  family that included four children, Norma Castillo and her husband,
  Michael, Sylvia Camarillo-Gomez, Delia Gaona, and Leonardo
  Camarillo Jr. and his wife, Tracey, as well as 11 grandchildren,
  Mark, Michael, Jaclyn, Matthew, Jorge, Isaiah, Celeste, Darryl,
  Shia, Liela, and Kaya; and
         WHEREAS, A devout Catholic, Mr. Camarillo often recited the
  rosary for people in ill health; he encouraged his children to live
  a life of integrity, humility, and generosity, and he was an
  inspiring role model to all who knew him; in his leisure hours, he
  enjoyed traveling and barbecuing; and
         WHEREAS, Although he will be deeply missed, memories of this
  beloved man will be forever treasured by those who were fortunate
  enough to share in the richness of his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Leonardo V.
  Camarillo and extend sincere condolences to his relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Leonardo
  Camarillo.
