R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Colonel Bradley T. Clair is completing his tenure as |
|
commander of the 4th Brigade Health Services, 100th Training |
|
Division, 80th Training Command, on June 11, 2017, and this |
|
occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize his |
|
distinguished service to his nation; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Los Angeles, Bradley Clair joined the |
|
United States Army after graduating from high school, in 1975; |
|
following assignments at bases in Washington state, Korea, and |
|
Georgia, he was honorably discharged from active duty in 1978 and |
|
went on to pursue a career in medicine; and |
|
WHEREAS, Colonel Clair answered his country's call to duty |
|
again in 2001; he joined the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corps and was |
|
assigned to the 1984th U.S. Army Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska, |
|
before being deployed in 2004 and 2005 to Germany, where he worked |
|
as an internist and as a cardiologist; and |
|
WHEREAS, Operation Iraqi Freedom occasioned another |
|
deployment in 2007, during which time Colonel Clair was posted to |
|
the 399th Combat Support Hospital in Anbar Province; there, he |
|
helped run the ICU and a medical-surgical unit, worked in the |
|
emergency room, and assessed the blood program; after completing |
|
that mission, he was selected in 2008 to command the 4225th U.S. |
|
Army Hospital in Helena, Montana; that assignment was followed by |
|
command positions with the 6253rd U.S. Army Hospital in Mesa, |
|
Arizona, the Western Medical Area Readiness Support Group, the U.S. |
|
Army Reserve Medical Command, and, most recently, the 4th Brigade, |
|
headquartered at Fort Sam Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed officer holds a master's degree in |
|
strategic studies from the Army War College; among the many |
|
decorations and awards he has received have been the Meritorious |
|
Service Medal with two oak-leaf clusters, the Army Commendation |
|
Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service |
|
Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service |
|
Medal, the Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Overseas Service |
|
Ribbon; and |
|
WHEREAS, In civilian life, Colonel Clair spent 23 years as a |
|
partner with Northern California Medical Associates, and he |
|
currently serves as a staff cardiologist with Sutter Health in |
|
Lakeport, California; he is an alumnus of California State |
|
University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in biology, and the |
|
University of Guadalajara, where he completed his M.D.; and |
|
WHEREAS, Colonel Clair has set an inspiring example for |
|
others through his selfless devotion to his country and his |
|
commitment to the highest ideals of the medical profession, and it |
|
is indeed fitting that he be recognized at this time; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Colonel Bradley T. Clair for his service |
|
to the United States Army and Army Reserve and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Colonel Clair as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
