R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, On February 25, 2017, the Reverend Jennifer
  Brooke-Davidson became the first woman elected bishop in the
  Episcopal Diocese of West Texas; and
         WHEREAS, The election was held during the 113th annual
  Diocesan Council in Corpus Christi; Reverend Brooke-Davidson is
  scheduled to be ordained on July 29, 2017, as the diocese's sixth
  bishop suffragan, a role in which she will serve alongside the
  diocesan bishop, the Right Reverend David M. Reed; and
         WHEREAS, After graduating from Fuller Theological Seminary
  with a degree in leadership and theology, Jennifer Brooke-Davidson
  received her ordination as a priest in 2009; she went on to serve as
  the assistant rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Wimberley
  from 2009 to 2011 and subsequently began her tenure as vicar of
  St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church in Buda; and
         WHEREAS, Reverend Brooke-Davidson holds a history degree
  from Yale University and a law degree from The University of Texas
  at Austin, and before entering the ministry, she practiced
  commercial financial law for 12 years; in all her endeavors, she is
  blessed with the love and support of her husband of more than a
  quarter century, Carrick Brooke-Davidson, and their daughters,
  Emma and Kate; and
         WHEREAS, During her notable career in the clergy, the
  Reverend Jennifer Brooke-Davidson has demonstrated her strong
  faith and steadfast commitment to the service of others, and her
  spiritual guidance and leadership are certain to benefit countless
  people in her new role with the Diocese of West Texas; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Jennifer
  Brooke-Davidson on her election as bishop suffragan of the
  Episcopal Diocese of West Texas and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for continued success and fulfillment in her new post; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Bishop-elect Brooke-Davidson as an expression of high
  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
