R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Johnny Villarreal is retiring from the Houston Fire
  Department in 2017, drawing to a close a notable career as a
  firefighter that has spanned more than three and a half decades; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Mr. Villarreal joined the
  Houston Fire Department in July 1980, and over the course of his
  exemplary 37-year tenure, he has distinguished himself in a variety
  of positions, serving the department and the citizens of Houston
  with skill and courage; he is retiring as an engine operator; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Villarreal has also served his fellow
  firefighters as a director of the Houston Professional Fire
  Fighters Association and, for the past two decades, as the HPFFA's
  legislative director, representing the interests of all
  firefighters before the state legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Deeply engaged in his community, alongside his late
  wife, Lillian, Mr. Villarreal has been active in many political
  campaigns and has volunteered extensively with the American Cancer
  Society; a devoted family man, he takes great pride in his children,
  Priscilla Villarreal Walker and her husband, Kyle, and Johnny
  Gallegos Villarreal Jr.; in his leisure time, this genial Texan
  enjoys hosting outdoor parties that are widely judged among his
  friends to be the absolute best; and
         WHEREAS, Johnny Villarreal's dedication, professionalism,
  and commitment to his fellow firefighters have greatly benefited
  the Houston Fire Department and the people of Houston, and he may
  indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on
  the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Johnny Villarreal on his
  retirement from the Houston Fire Department and as legislative
  director of the Houston Professional Fire Fighters Association and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Villarreal as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
