R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Brett May and Selah Cline of West Hardin High School |
|
|
in Saratoga won the 2A title at the University Interscholastic |
|
|
League Cross-Examination Debate State Meet, held on March 13 and |
|
|
14, 2017; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Competing against some of the brightest students in |
|
|
Texas, Mr. May and Ms. Cline gave an outstanding performance to |
|
|
become the 2A Conference state champions; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The triumph was the culmination of West Hardin |
|
|
High's success in cross-examination debate over the past three |
|
|
years; Mr. May teamed with Christian Lewis to reach the octafinals |
|
|
at the 2015 state meet, and the duo of Mr. May and Ms. Cline |
|
|
represented the school at the event in 2016, earning an |
|
|
Octafinalist Award for their efforts; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through their skill, hard work, and commitment to |
|
|
excellence, Brett May and Selah Cline have distinguished themselves |
|
|
in statewide competition, and they may reflect with pride on a job |
|
|
well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Brett May and Selah Cline on |
|
|
winning the UIL 2A cross-examination debate state championship and |
|
|
extend to them sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared |
|
|
for Mr. May and Ms. Cline as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
