R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jeffrey Patrick Morris is stepping down as the state
  chair of the Young Conservatives of Texas at the group's 37th annual
  state convention on April 8, 2017, drawing to a close more than five
  years of exemplary service; and
         WHEREAS, YCT is a nonpartisan and independent youth
  organization dedicated to protecting the rights outlined in the
  Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution and promoting
  such principles as limited government, state sovereignty, free
  enterprise, and a strong national defense; the group has been
  especially active on college campuses, inspiring young people to
  become involved in politics and advocating for conservative
  candidates during primary and general elections; and
         WHEREAS, An Eagle Scout and a graduate of Rowlett High
  School, Mr. Morris earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in
  business administration and his master of science degree in
  management information systems from the Rawls College of Business
  at Texas Tech University; he was also a founding member of the Texas
  Tech chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization and
  webmaster of the Texas Tech chapter of the Association of
  Information Technology Professionals; since 2011, he has been an
  SQL server business intelligence specialist at the Argo software
  company in Richardson; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Morris first served YCT as finance director from
  April to September 2010, and he went on to hold the posts of Texas
  Tech chapter chair from 2010 to 2011 and technology director from
  2010 to 2011; in November 2011, he became YCT's 23rd chair, and in
  that capacity, he has overseen its media relations, chapter
  development, and legislative rating program; moreover, he has
  raised funds for the group, managed its finances, planned the
  annual convention, and organized volunteer support for
  conservative candidates across the state; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Morris's leadership, dedication, and commitment
  to conservative ideals have greatly benefited the Young
  Conservatives of Texas and earned him the respect and admiration of
  its members, and he may reflect with pride on his notable record of
  achievement as the organization's chair; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Jeffrey Patrick Morris on his
  service as state chair of the Young Conservatives of Texas and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Morris as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
