R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Charles David Abbott of Idalou, who passed away on March 2, 2017; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Charles Abbott and Marjene Phelps, David |
|
Abbott was born in Plainview in 1954, and he grew up alongside his |
|
sister, Kathy, brother, Jimmy, and stepbrothers, Greg and J. R.; he |
|
graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1972 and went on to earn |
|
a degree in Christian ministry at Southwestern Assemblies of God |
|
University before following his call to pastoral service; and |
|
WHEREAS, While working at a church in Lubbock, Mr. Abbott met |
|
the love of his life, the former Lynnette Marshall, and the couple |
|
married in 1978; he became the father of three treasured sons, |
|
Joshua, Chance, and the late Matthew Abbott, as well as a |
|
grandfather to a cherished granddaughter, Eisley Dawn; and |
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, various ministry positions led |
|
Mr. Abbott and his family to live in cities across Texas and in |
|
Colorado until 1993, when they decided to put down roots in Idalou; |
|
there, Mr. Abbott embarked on a new career as a carpenter and |
|
established a reputation for skilled craftsmanship in custom |
|
cabinetry; in his spare time, he volunteered at the Lubbock Lions |
|
Club and enjoyed every available opportunity to hunt and fish; and |
|
WHEREAS, David Abbott was a devoted husband, a committed |
|
father, and a friend to everyone he met, and he will forever be a |
|
source of inspiration to all those who had the good fortune to know |
|
him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of David Abbott and |
|
extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his loss; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of David |
|
Abbott. |
