R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of C. Maye Neal Strange of Georgetown on January 25, 2017, |
|
at the age of 96; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of William and Lorena Dunlap, the |
|
former Clara Maye Dunlap was born on July 23, 1920; she grew up on |
|
her family's ranch near Ozona and graduated from Ozona High School |
|
before attending Texas State College for Women and Baylor |
|
University; following her studies, she returned to Ozona, where she |
|
worked as a reporter for the Ozona Stockman and the Midland |
|
Reporter-Telegram; in 1940, she wed Robert Neal, and they later |
|
built their home and ranching business on the Neal Ranch in |
|
Junction, spending 41 cherished years together until his death in |
|
1981; she remarried in 1988 and went on to enjoy eight years of |
|
marriage to Gwan Strange; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to ranching, Mrs. Strange also operated |
|
her own women's clothing business, C. Maye's Shoppe, for more than |
|
three decades; she further shared her time and talents with the |
|
community as chair of the First State Bank of Junction board of |
|
directors and as a member of the Daedalian Study Club and the |
|
administrative board of the local First United Methodist Church; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Although she will be deeply missed, memories of this |
|
beloved woman will be forever treasured by those who were fortunate |
|
enough to share in the richness of her life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of C. Maye Neal Strange |
|
and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of her family: to her |
|
two sons, Robert M. Neal Jr. and his wife, Nancy, and Jon Neal and |
|
his wife, Linda; to her stepson, Joe Strange and his wife, Pam; to |
|
her grandsons, Robert M. Neal III and his wife, Susan, William Neal |
|
and his wife, Lauren, Deric Neal and his wife, Melanie, Jordan Neal |
|
and his wife, Amanda, and Jeffrey Strange; to her six |
|
great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of C. Maye |
|
Neal Strange. |
