R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the men and women |
|
of the law enforcement profession, for by their selfless devotion |
|
to the public welfare, they enable us to enjoy the benefits of a |
|
peaceful and orderly society; and |
|
WHEREAS, Too seldom recognized, and sometimes taken for |
|
granted by the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant |
|
individuals daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic |
|
tranquility and to protect the lives and property of others; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assistant Commander Kenneth J. Starrs of the South |
|
Texas Specialized Crimes and Narcotics Task Force exemplified in |
|
his personal and professional conduct the singular virtues of |
|
courage, integrity, and steadfast resolve, and throughout his 38 |
|
years, 7 months on the force, his meritorious service embodied the |
|
highest ideals of his vocation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Killed in the line of duty on November 16, 2016, |
|
Commander Starrs will long be missed by his family, his fellow peace |
|
officers, and the entire community; and |
|
WHEREAS, Though his life ended far too soon, Commander Starrs |
|
left behind a record of public service that is deserving of his |
|
fellow citizens' lasting respect and gratitude; now, therefore, be |
|
it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Assistant Commander |
|
Kenneth J. Starrs and extend deepest sympathy to his relatives, |
|
friends, and fellow officers; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Assistant |
|
Commander Kenneth J. Starrs. |
