R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Hausman Foods in Corpus Christi has long
  distinguished itself through its significant contributions to the
  local community; and
         WHEREAS, This notable Texas company was founded in 1939 by
  Sam Hausman; what began as a small family enterprise of four
  employees, including Mr. Hausman's wife, Fannie, has since grown to
  include a staff of some 120 workers across three local processing
  facilities, and today the award-winning business provides a wide
  range of meat products to customers around the globe; and
         WHEREAS, After the passing of Mr. Hausman in 1958,
  his son-in-law David Holliday assumed control of the business, and
  in the late 1960s, he in turn handed over the reins to his sons Rick
  and Steve, who served as president and vice president,
  respectively, until retiring in 2005; the company has since
  benefited from the able leadership of the
  founder's great-grandchildren Amy Seward and Jerry Simpson; and
         WHEREAS, Locally owned and operated businesses play a vital
  role in the prosperity of the Lone Star State, and those enterprises
  that build a record of dependability and longevity enjoy a special
  degree of esteem in their communities; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Hausman Foods on its many decades of
  service to the Corpus Christi community and extend to the company's
  ownership and staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the business as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
