R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Gaylon Clark, pastor of Greater Mount Zion Baptist |
|
Church in Austin, is serving as Pastor of the Day for the Texas |
|
House of Representatives on May 23, 2017; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pastor Clark earned a bachelor's degree in biblical |
|
studies from Dallas Baptist University in 1989, and he went on to |
|
receive a master's degree in theology, with an emphasis in pastoral |
|
ministries, from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1996; and |
|
WHEREAS, For the past 16 years, this respected clergyman has |
|
served as the lead pastor of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, and |
|
under his guidance, the congregation has grown to include more than |
|
3,000 members; during his outstanding tenure, the church has |
|
launched a small-group ministry, adopted a number of social justice |
|
causes, taken part in building a medical clinic in Kenya, and |
|
expanded to include a new worship center, which was completed in |
|
November 2016; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Pastor Clark has been |
|
blessed with the love and support of his wife of nearly three |
|
decades, Kathy, and he is the proud father of a son, Michael; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since first entering the ministry, Pastor Gaylon |
|
Clark has inspired countless Texans with his message of grace and |
|
goodwill, and it is a pleasure to welcome him to this chamber; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Gaylon Clark for his service as Pastor of |
|
the Day and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Pastor Clark as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
