R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of several area fire departments responded
  swiftly and courageously to a structure fire that broke out in the
  city of Balch Springs on February 24, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, During the early evening, the Balch Springs Fire
  Department was called to put out a fire that had enveloped a pallet
  factory and spread to two other businesses; Balch Springs
  firefighters then requested the aid of the Dallas, Dallas County,
  Mesquite, Combine, Seagoville, and Sunnyvale Fire Departments,
  which converged on the scene to help battle the massive blaze; and
         WHEREAS, Thanks to the tremendous support provided by these
  crews, the fire was successfully extinguished in a few hours with no
  loss of life and only minor injuries to two firefighters; the Balch
  Springs Fire Department also received help from the Texas State
  Fire Marshal's Office in investigating the cause of the fire; and
         WHEREAS, In answering an urgent call for assistance, these
  exemplary first responders demonstrated their unwavering
  commitment to protecting the lives and property of their fellow
  Texans, and they may indeed take pride in a job well done; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend the personnel of the Balch Springs,
  Dallas, Dallas County, Mesquite, Combine, Seagoville, and
  Sunnyvale Fire Departments and the Texas State Fire Marshal's
  Office for their roles in controlling a structure fire in Balch
  Springs on February 24, 2017, and investigating its cause and
  extend to them sincere best wishes for the future.
