R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life centered on faith and
  family drew to a close on March 11, 2017, with the passing of the
  Reverend Lavoyd W. Dollar of Waxahachie at the age of 87; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Sidney and Ola Mae Hall Dollar, L. W.
  Dollar was born on October 1, 1929, in Booneville, Arkansas, where
  he grew up in the company of nine siblings; in 1954, he hitchhiked
  to Waxahachie to enroll at Southwestern Bible Institute, beginning
  his studies for a life in the ministry; and
         WHEREAS, Reverend Dollar served as the pastor of First
  Assembly of God for more than 18 years, and his commitment to
  sharing the gospel inspired him to lead and sponsor numerous
  mission trips; in addition to his work as a religious leader, he was
  a partner in Dollar & Rogers Construction for 42 years; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Reverend Dollar was blessed
  with the love and support of Verna Rogers Dollar, his wife of 68
  years, and they became the parents of seven children, Jan Blount,
  Debbie Miles, and Kenneth, Roger, Carol, Gerald, and Gary Dollar;
  with the passing years, the family grew to include 25 grandchildren
  and more than 40 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Reverend Dollar remained
  deeply devoted to education; he was an ardent supporter of his alma
  mater, Southwestern Assemblies of God University, and at age 82, he
  earned a master's degree in practical theology from the university,
  proving his maxim that a person is never too old to learn; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known the Reverend
  L. W. Dollar will remember the way he touched their lives with his
  strength and gentle spirit, and he will forever hold a treasured
  place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of the Reverend Lavoyd W.
  Dollar and extend sincere condolences to his family and many
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Reverend
  Dollar.
