R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Dr. Richard Jewel Rose, the founding pastor of Holy
  Trinity Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, is serving as Pastor
  of the Day for the Texas House of Representatives on April 18, 2017;
  and
         WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Dr. Rose has dedicated himself
  to Holy Trinity MBC since assuming the pulpit there in 1972; under
  his skilled leadership, the church established the Oikodome School
  of Biblical Studies in the 1980s and launched the Oikodome Bible
  Conference in 2008; and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Rose has acquired a deep understanding of
  biblical doctrine through extensive study, which has included
  earning bachelor's degrees from the March of Faith Bible Institute
  and Texas Southern University, a master's degree from the Houston
  Graduate School of Theology, and a master's degree and doctorate
  from Faith International University & Seminary in Tacoma,
  Washington; a mentor to his fellow ministers, he has shared his
  knowledge and wisdom with the wider community as an adjunct
  instructor at Texas Southern University and Houston Community
  College, and he will soon become an adjunct faculty member at Faith
  Seminary; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Rose enjoys the love and
  support of his wife of 38 years, Sundrell Rose; the couple have been
  blessed with 2 children, Richard and Tabitha, and 10 grandchildren;
  and
         WHEREAS, Dr. Rose exemplifies the highest standards of his
  vocation, and through the years he has inspired countless Texans
  with his messages of faith and goodwill; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Dr. Richard Jewel Rose for his service as
  Pastor of the Day and extend to him sincere best wishes for
  continued success and fulfillment in his ministry; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Rose as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
