R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Continuing its outstanding record of recent
  success, the volleyball team of McCollum High School in San Antonio
  clinched the 2016 district championship, the third consecutive year
  that it has claimed a conference title; and
         WHEREAS, Under the able guidance of head coach Rose Ann
  Martinez, the Cowgirls began their impressive run in 2014, when
  they went undefeated against their 28-5A opponents and became the
  district champions for the first time in 18 years; the following
  season, the team compiled a conference record of 14 wins and only 2
  losses to earn the title again; and
         WHEREAS, After transitioning to a new district in 2016, the
  Cowgirls enjoyed another exemplary campaign, winning the 29-5A
  championship and collecting two playoff victories to advance to the
  regional quarterfinals for the first time since 2002; the San
  Antonio Express-News selected Victoria Yzaguirre as the
  conference's Co-Outstanding Hitter and made her an All-District
  First Team selection, while Alysia Garcia won an Outstanding Setter
  honor, and Alyssa Dimas was tapped as an Outstanding Defensive
  Specialist and was chosen for the All-District Second Team; in
  addition, Miranda Rich earned a place on First Team and Samantha
  Rodriguez and Jurnee Dimas were Second Team honorees; and
         WHEREAS, By dedicating themselves to excellence and putting
  in countless hours of hard work, the McCollum Cowgirls have
  distinguished themselves on the volleyball court, and their
  accomplishments are a source of pride for their school and their
  many community supporters; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the McCollum High School
  volleyball team on earning its third straight district title and
  extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
