R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Frisco Ice Hockey Association varsity gold team
  reached the pinnacle of success by winning the USA Hockey High
  School Division II Combined national championship held in
  Cleveland, Ohio, on April 3, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, After advancing to the quarterfinals in the 2016
  tournament, the Frisco squad made a triumphant return, dispatching
  teams from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Mitchell, Florida, to reach
  the finals against Missoula, Montana; and
         WHEREAS, In the title contest, Frisco was evenly matched in a
  scoreless first period but took a commanding lead in the second
  frame with goals by Julian Robidoux, Robert Langholff, Jacob
  Plattner, and Chase Nies; Mr. Nies notched an additional point in
  the last period, and with goaltender James Gillilan stopping all 27
  opponent shot attempts in the game, Frisco went on to clinch the
  trophy by a final score of 5-0; with the victory, the squad earned
  the distinction of becoming the first Texas hockey team to win a
  national championship; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout the season, the group excelled with a
  true team effort, also receiving valuable contributions from the
  other members of the roster: Sullivan Sheahan, David Girardi, Luke
  Lenhardt, Dylan Odelein, Andrew Cimino, Dustin Muriel, Blaise
  Muriel, Connor Nehls, Christopher Wyse, Skylar Boughner, James
  Wheeler, Nathan Mendez, Gabriel Henchey, Brendan Sinclair, and
  Scott Mitchell; these talented athletes benefited from the skillful
  guidance of head coach Ryan McLean; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a national championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
  commitment to excellence, and the members of the Frisco hockey team
  will carry the memory of this remarkable accomplishment with them
  for the rest of their lives; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Frisco Ice Hockey Association
  varsity gold team on winning the 2016-2017 USA Hockey High School
  Division II Combined national championship and extend to the
  group's players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes for the
  future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the squad as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
