R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Erika Manning of Weatherford Elementary School in |
|
|
Plano has been named the 2016 Elementary Teacher of the Year by the |
|
|
Plano Independent School District and by Region 10; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A member of the Plano Senior High School Class of |
|
|
1994, Ms. Manning graduated with a bachelor's degree in corporate |
|
|
relations and public affairs from Southern Methodist University and |
|
|
a master's degree in elementary education from Texas A&M |
|
|
University--Commerce; she gained more than a decade of experience |
|
|
teaching kindergarten at Davis Elementary School in Garland and |
|
|
Howard Dobbs Elementary School in Rockwall before joining the |
|
|
faculty of Weatherford Elementary in 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, Ms. Manning serves as a kindergarten |
|
|
bilingual and instructional specialist at Weatherford Elementary, |
|
|
and she has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to closing the |
|
|
achievement gap; moreover, she has given generously of her time and |
|
|
talents as a member of the School Based Improvement and the Team |
|
|
Leader Committees and as a volunteer at school events, including |
|
|
PTA Spirit Night, the Fall Festival, Science Night, and many more; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Erika Manning exemplifies the passion, |
|
|
determination, and enthusiasm that are the hallmarks of our best |
|
|
teachers, and she may take justifiable pride in these prestigious |
|
|
accolades; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Erika Manning on her selection as |
|
|
the 2016 Elementary Teacher of the Year by the Plano Independent |
|
|
School District and by Region 10 and extend to her sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Manning as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
