R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Austin Keck, a junior at Prosper High School, has |
|
|
been accepted into the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, |
|
|
and this accomplishment is indeed worthy of special recognition; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Formed in 1967, this prestigious ensemble is one of |
|
|
the most competitive groups within Drum Corps International; the |
|
|
outfit annually performs for thousands of spectators at contests |
|
|
across the country, and its impressive list of accolades includes |
|
|
six DCI world championships; each year, the corps holds some 3,000 |
|
|
auditions for new members, and at the age of only 16, Mr. Keck is |
|
|
among the youngest musicians to ever join its ranks; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Raised in a musical family, Mr. Keck first took up |
|
|
percussion in sixth grade, and today he primarily plays marimba for |
|
|
the Prosper High band; after graduating in 2018, he plans to study |
|
|
music at the college level in preparation for a career as a |
|
|
professional instrumentalist; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This gifted young Texan has distinguished himself |
|
|
through his remarkable talent and his unwavering commitment to |
|
|
excellence, and he may take justifiable pride in this notable |
|
|
achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Austin Keck on his acceptance into |
|
|
the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps and extend to him |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Keck as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
