R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of First Methodist Church of Chillicothe
  gathered on May 21, 2016, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the
  construction of their church; and
         WHEREAS, Organized in 1886 in the Jackson Springs community,
  the congregation was served in its early days by circuit riders
  C. T. Neese and J. T. Hosmer; the church was relocated to
  Chillicothe not long after the Fort Worth and Denver City Railway
  reached the town in the following year; eventually, the
  congregation found a new site, and prominent architect Rockwell
  Henry Stuckey was hired to design a building, which was completed in
  1916; and
         WHEREAS, The church's classical elements include a cornice,
  columns, and eaves, and it also features an octagonal dome and
  stained glass windows that were crafted in Germany; in 1998, the
  building was designated as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark by
  the Texas Historical Commission; and
         WHEREAS, Countless area residents have looked to the First
  Methodist Church of Chillicothe for spiritual guidance for over a
  century, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the church and the
  rich history of its venerable house of worship; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of the First
  Methodist Church of Chillicothe building and extend to the members
  of the congregation sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the congregation as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
