R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A 65th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |
|
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and James and Oneida Stiles |
|
of Graham celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on |
|
September 2, 2016; and |
|
WHEREAS, James Stiles and the former Oneida Milford were |
|
joined in matrimony in 1951 at a ceremony held at the First Baptist |
|
Church in Wichita Falls; through the years, they have been blessed |
|
with a treasured family that includes their children, Becky Sue |
|
Callison and her husband, Ed, and John Stiles and his wife, Letha, |
|
as well as a granddaughter, Reina Johnson, and her husband, Todd, |
|
and two great-grandchildren, Brinly and Landry Johnson; and |
|
WHEREAS, An air force veteran, Mr. Stiles attended Oklahoma |
|
Baptist University and received degrees in the arts and in divinity |
|
from Southwestern Baptist Seminary; he has pastored churches in |
|
Texas and Oklahoma for 65 years; Mrs. Stiles attended Oklahoma |
|
Baptist University and the University of North Texas and served |
|
alongside her husband as a missionary in Colombia for 10 years; |
|
today, the couple are congregants at First Baptist Church of |
|
Graham, and they count flying and amateur radio among their |
|
interests; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Stiles have enjoyed six and a half |
|
decades of abiding love and affection for each other, and they are |
|
among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a |
|
lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate James and Oneida Stiles on their |
|
65th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Stiles as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
