R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Amanda Salinas has been named the 2016-2017 Teacher |
|
|
of the Year at West Oso High School in Corpus Christi; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A solid education is vital for young people to |
|
|
become successful and productive adults, and those men and women |
|
|
who dedicate their careers to teaching make a positive difference |
|
|
in the lives of their students and in the greater community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi |
|
|
with a degree in biology, Mrs. Salinas has worked at West Oso High |
|
|
for the past four years, teaching courses in engineering, |
|
|
chemistry, and anatomy and physiology; in addition to chairing the |
|
|
science department, she coaches the FIRST Tech Challenge robotics |
|
|
team and serves as a yearbook sponsor; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Amanda Salinas exemplifies the passion, |
|
|
determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our |
|
|
best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all |
|
|
in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Amanda Salinas on her selection as |
|
|
the 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year at West Oso High School and extend |
|
|
to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important |
|
|
work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mrs. Salinas as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
