R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The Junior League of Collin County celebrated its
  40th anniversary on March 25, 2017, with the completion of 40
  service projects in a single day; and
         WHEREAS, In 1976, the organization was founded as the Plano
  Service League by 13 women with a deep commitment to their rapidly
  growing community; the group was admitted to the Association of
  Junior Leagues International as the Junior League of Plano in 1984,
  and in 2011, it adopted its present name to reflect its expanding
  membership and broader impact; and
         WHEREAS, The Junior League of Collin County now has nearly
  1,000 members from Plano, Allen, Frisco, McKinney, and other
  communities; they work tirelessly in behalf of the league's
  initiatives and provide millions of dollars and thousands of
  volunteer hours to support agencies and programs that address such
  issues as family violence, literacy, health, and the needs of
  children and youth; through the years, the organization has
  received numerous accolades and awards, among them a $20,000 Dallas
  Women's Foundation grant and the 2013 Community Partner of the Year
  Award from the Plano Chamber of Commerce; and
         WHEREAS, During its anniversary event, the league conducted
  hands-on service projects all across the county; hundreds of
  volunteers participated in a variety of efforts, including stocking
  food pantries and delivering supplies in behalf of such
  organizations as the Brain Injury Network of Dallas, Grace Bridge
  Food Bank, McKinney ISD Special Olympics, North Collin County
  Habitat for Humanity, and Plano ISD Head Start; and
         WHEREAS, The Junior League of Collin County has greatly
  benefited area residents over the past four decades through its
  innovative programs, leadership, and dedicated service, and its
  members may indeed reflect with pride on their wide-ranging
  contributions; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Junior League of Collin County
  on its 40th anniversary and extend to its members sincere best
  wishes for continued support in their important endeavors; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Junior League of Collin County as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
