R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Anna High School Beta Club |
|
|
distinguished themselves through their outstanding performance at |
|
|
the 57th Annual Texas Beta Club Convention, held in Frisco from |
|
|
February 24 to 25, 2017; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Anna High chapter of this national honor and |
|
|
service organization requires members to maintain a 3.0 GPA and |
|
|
complete at least 50 hours of community service each year; all |
|
|
participants are invited to attend the Texas Beta Club Convention, |
|
|
where students compete in a variety of academic, art, and speech |
|
|
contests; in recent years, the Anna Beta Club has been named a |
|
|
National Beta School of Distinction and selected as a Golden Key |
|
|
Award recipient; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A number of Anna Beta Club members took top honors |
|
|
for their exceptional performances at the 2017 state convention, |
|
|
including Michelle Larriva, who won the Mixed Media art |
|
|
competition, and Devin O'Neal, who earned second place in the |
|
|
Creative Writing Division II contest; Pamela West placed third in |
|
|
the Sculpture category, and Beta Club president Juan Sanchez also |
|
|
garnered third-place honors for his entry in the Spanish Division |
|
|
II category; moreover, Madison Hemenway, Kaleigh Terry, Jillian |
|
|
Vargas, and Melanie Hunter captured third place in the Club Trading |
|
|
Pin contest, and Trenten Wilson, Haley Thornburg, and Riley |
|
|
Stockton came in third in the Fresh Look at Beta competition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With their fine showing at the Texas Beta Club |
|
|
Convention, members of the Anna Beta Club have brought credit to |
|
|
their school, and they may take justifiable pride in the talent and |
|
|
dedication they have demonstrated; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize the Anna High School Beta Club for its |
|
|
success at the 2017 Texas Beta Club Convention and extend to all its |
|
|
members sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
