R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Residents of Central Texas and visitors alike are
  gathering for the 20th annual Buda Country Fair and Wiener Dog Races
  on April 29-30, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, With this year's theme of "WienerTopia," the
  dachshund races will draw fun seekers from across the country to
  Buda, considered the "Wiener Dog Capital of Texas"; guests will
  enjoy an entertaining weekend of canine competition, culminating in
  the Run for the Roses, along with such family-friendly activities
  as a Best Dressed Dog Contest, a bake-off, chili and barbecue
  cook-offs, and live music performances; and
         WHEREAS, All proceeds from the races go toward the Buda Lions
  Club, which has significantly benefited the local community; the
  group's invaluable contributions include aiding children with
  vision impairments and other individuals living with disabilities
  as well as awarding scholarships to area college students; and
         WHEREAS, For two decades, this beloved local tradition has
  given crowds the opportunity to support a worthy cause while
  celebrating the charming and adorable dachshund, and this notable
  milestone in the history of the event truly merits special
  recognition; now, therefore, be it
         
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 2017 Buda Country Fair and
  Wiener Dog Races and extend to its organizers, participants, and
  guests sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable event.
