R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Residents of Central Texas and visitors alike are |
|
|
gathering for the 20th annual Buda Country Fair and Wiener Dog Races |
|
|
on April 29-30, 2017; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With this year's theme of "WienerTopia," the |
|
|
dachshund races will draw fun seekers from across the country to |
|
|
Buda, considered the "Wiener Dog Capital of Texas"; guests will |
|
|
enjoy an entertaining weekend of canine competition, culminating in |
|
|
the Run for the Roses, along with such family-friendly activities |
|
|
as a Best Dressed Dog Contest, a bake-off, chili and barbecue |
|
|
cook-offs, and live music performances; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, All proceeds from the races go toward the Buda Lions |
|
|
Club, which has significantly benefited the local community; the |
|
|
group's invaluable contributions include aiding children with |
|
|
vision impairments and other individuals living with disabilities |
|
|
as well as awarding scholarships to area college students; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For two decades, this beloved local tradition has |
|
|
given crowds the opportunity to support a worthy cause while |
|
|
celebrating the charming and adorable dachshund, and this notable |
|
|
milestone in the history of the event truly merits special |
|
|
recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
|
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 2017 Buda Country Fair and |
|
|
Wiener Dog Races and extend to its organizers, participants, and |
|
|
guests sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable event. |
