R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Heather Madeline Lathem of Childress, who passed
  away on March 14, 2017, at the age of 13, touched the hearts of
  countless people during her brief time on this earth; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Childress on November 10, 2003, Maddie
  Lathem was the cherished daughter of Hunt and Hannah Lathem; she was
  a seventh grade student at Childress Junior High School, where she
  enjoyed visiting with her teachers and friends and studying her
  favorite subject, history; Maddie also had an active life outside
  of school, participating in gymnastics and church activities, and
  she had dreams of one day becoming a professional baker; and
         WHEREAS, Blessed with a beautiful smile and a contagious
  laugh, Maddie brought joy and enthusiasm to every moment; she
  inherited her passion for reading from her mother and her sense of
  humor from her father, and she took great delight in spending time
  with her close-knit family, which included her older brother and
  best friend, Sam; and
         WHEREAS, Through her love, kindness, and purity of spirit,
  Maddie Lathem inspired the best in everyone around her, and the
  wealth of happy memories that she leaves behind will be treasured
  forever; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Heather Madeline
  Lathem and extend deepest condolences to the members of her family:
  to her parents, Hunt and Hannah Lathem; to her brother, Sam Lathem;
  to her grandparents, Randall Ryan and his wife, Shirley, and Marc
  and Kay Lathem; to her aunts, Serena Davidson and her husband,
  Clint, and Heather Sharp and her husband, Lane; to her uncles, Paul
  Ryan and his wife, Jennifer, and Zack Ryan and his wife, Beth; to
  her cousins, Ryan, Donny, Ashley, Hunter, Belle, Kate, Barrett, and
  Emmy; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Maddie
  Lathem.
