R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of
  mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Calvin and Ola Parker
  of Jacksboro celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on
  April 6, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Parker met on Christmas Eve at the VFW
  hall, began dating on New Year's Eve, and were joined in matrimony
  in the spring of 1967; over the years, they have been blessed with a
  treasured family that includes their four children, Lara, Martha,
  Mylinda, and Pervis, as well as their five grandchildren and seven
  great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Now in his retirement, Mr. Parker worked for G&H
  Butane for a decade and then served as an employee of the City of
  Jacksboro for nearly 40 years; Mrs. Parker held a position at the
  Ben Franklin department store before devoting herself to caring for
  her family; the couple have brought joy to many by appearing at
  community events and day-care facilities costumed as Santa and
  Mrs. Claus, and Mrs. Parker is a dedicated volunteer with several
  local groups; Mr. Parker enjoys rooting for the Jacksboro High
  School Tigers football team and takes particular delight in
  watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in
  their chosen sports; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Parker have enjoyed five decades of
  abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an
  exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting
  commitment; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Calvin and Ola Parker on their 50th
  wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
  continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Parker as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
