R E S O L U T I O N
|

|
|
WHEREAS, For more than two decades, Pastor Thurman Henry West |
|
|
has provided steadfast spiritual guidance to the congregation of |
|
|
Southeast Community Church in Houston; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A native of the Bayou City, Thurman West was born to |
|
|
Sherman and Beatrice West on September 28, 1961; after graduating |
|
|
from Barbara Jordan High School, he went on to earn a bachelor's |
|
|
degree from Luther Rice College & Seminary in Florida; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 1984, this esteemed Texan announced his call to |
|
|
the ministry, and following the completion of his education in |
|
|
1996, he returned to Houston to assume the role of assistant pastor |
|
|
at Southeast Community Church; he became the church's head pastor |
|
|
in October 1999, and in the years since, he has continued to provide |
|
|
thoughtful leadership that has greatly benefited the congregation |
|
|
and the wider community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Pastor Thurman West has wholeheartedly committed |
|
|
himself to advancing the mission of Southeast Community Church, and |
|
|
he has inspired countless individuals with his message of grace and |
|
|
goodwill; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize Pastor Thurman H. West for his service |
|
|
in behalf of Southeast Community Church in Houston and extend to him |
|
|
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Pastor West as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
