R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Barney Flores has become an inspiring mentor for
  young people in the McKinney community through his work as owner of
  Barney and Me Boxing Gym; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Flores started coaching more than 35 years ago,
  and in 2001, with help from the City of McKinney, he established the
  Barney and Me Boxing Gym; offering after-school classes to children
  between the ages of 8 and 16, he encourages his students to make
  good decisions and to place a high priority on education; and
         WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Flores has provided many boxing
  lessons free of charge, and he has spent countless hours providing
  children with transportation to and from the gym and escorting them
  to tournaments; this important work has been supported by his wife,
  Evelyn, and by assistant coaches Shannon Wynia, Kenny McCollom, and
  Monette McCollom; and
         WHEREAS, Through his dedicated efforts, Barney Flores has
  greatly benefited the youth of McKinney, and this outstanding
  Texan's generosity and commitment to the well-being of others make
  him truly worthy of recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Barney Flores for his service to the
  McKinney community through the Barney and Me Boxing Gym and extend
  to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Flores as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
