R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Myra Lee Goff was recognized by the Greater New |
|
|
Braunfels Chamber of Commerce with a 2017 Chair of the Board Award; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Bestowed on no more than six recipients each year, |
|
|
this prestigious honor was presented to Ms. Goff for her extensive |
|
|
work in the field of heritage preservation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas Christian University, Ms. Goff |
|
|
enjoyed a teaching career in New Braunfels that spanned more than |
|
|
three decades; since her retirement, she has written and coauthored |
|
|
numerous books about the history of the local area, including |
|
|
Kindermaskenball, Past and Present; New Braunfels, Comal County: a |
|
|
Pictorial History; A Journey in Faith: the History of First |
|
|
Protestant Church; and It's Fair Time; she also pens a |
|
|
twice-monthly column for the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung covering |
|
|
a range of historical topics; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the years, Ms. Goff has garnered recognition |
|
|
from a host of organizations for her valuable contributions to the |
|
|
community; she was named a Living Legend of New Braunfels by the |
|
|
Braunfels Foundation Trust, a Volunteer of the Year by the |
|
|
Sophienburg Museum, and a Silver Unicorn by the New Braunfels |
|
|
Independent School District; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through her dedicated work, Myra Lee Goff has helped |
|
|
preserve the history and culture of New Braunfels for present and |
|
|
future generations, fostering pride among area residents and |
|
|
helping them to better understand their Texas heritage; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Myra Lee Goff on her receipt of a |
|
|
Chair of the Board Award from the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of |
|
|
Commerce and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Goff as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
