R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Ace Castillo, a junior at Tuloso-Midway High School |
|
|
in Corpus Christi, placed second at the University Interscholastic |
|
|
League 5A Cross Country State Championship on November 12, 2016; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Facing off against the top competitors in the state |
|
|
at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Mr. Castillo claimed the silver |
|
|
medal in the individual boys' contest after recording a time of 15 |
|
|
minutes, 10.95 seconds, the fourth-fastest run in the history of |
|
|
the event; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Castillo significantly bested his time of 16 |
|
|
minutes, 32 seconds from last year's competition, in which he also |
|
|
earned runner-up honors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for |
|
|
high school cross-country runners, Ace Castillo has ably |
|
|
represented his school and community, and his memories of this |
|
|
outstanding accomplishment will be with him for years to come; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Ace Castillo on his second-place |
|
|
finish in the 2016 UIL 5A Cross Country State Championship and |
|
|
extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Castillo as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
