R E S O L U T I O N
|
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Texans everywhere are indebted to the men and women |
|
|
of the law enforcement profession, for by their selfless devotion |
|
|
to the public welfare, they enable us to enjoy the benefits of a |
|
|
peaceful and orderly society; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Too seldom recognized, and sometimes taken for |
|
|
granted by the public they so faithfully serve, these gallant |
|
|
individuals daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic |
|
|
tranquility and to protect the lives and property of others; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Officer Calvin M. McCullers Jr. of the Southern |
|
|
Methodist University Police Department exemplified in his personal |
|
|
and professional conduct the singular virtues of courage, |
|
|
integrity, and steadfast resolve, and throughout his one year, five |
|
|
months on the force, his meritorious service embodied the highest |
|
|
ideals of his vocation; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan, who died on July 5, 2016, while |
|
|
working an off-duty security assignment, will long be missed by his |
|
|
family, his fellow peace officers, and the entire community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Though his life ended far too soon, Officer |
|
|
McCullers has left behind a record of public service that is |
|
|
deserving of his fellow citizens' lasting respect and gratitude; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Officer Calvin M. |
|
|
McCullers Jr. and extend deepest sympathy to his relatives, |
|
|
friends, and fellow officers; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Officer |
|
|
Calvin M. McCullers Jr. |
