R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Residents of Brownsville and the surrounding area
  set the Guinness World Record for largest huapango dance on April
  22, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, Organized by the City of Brownsville and The
  University of Texas School of Public Health at Brownsville, the
  event was designed to promote healthy lifestyles and physical
  activity; the gathering was held at Brownsville Sports Park, where
  more than 500 participants joined together to dance huapango, a
  fast-paced Mexican folk style of music; and
         WHEREAS, This new record is just the latest for the City of
  Brownsville, which also holds places in the Guinness Book of World
  Records for the largest Zumba and Zumbatomic classes; and
         WHEREAS, In achieving this feat, the City of Brownsville not
  only demonstrated its commitment to public health but also
  celebrated the area's rich cultural heritage, and all who
  participated deserve special recognition for their community
  spirit; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Brownsville on setting
  the Guinness World Record for largest huapango dance and extend to
  all those involved sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the city as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
