R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The death of Robert Michael Jelinek of Beaumont on
  February 14, 2016, at the age of 72, brought a great loss to his
  family, his friends, and his colleagues in the construction
  business; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on September 19, 1943, Mike Jelinek
  was the son of Frank and Margaret Jelinek; he graduated from
  Beaumont High School and went on to attend The University of Texas
  at Austin and Lamar University; in 1965, after returning to
  Beaumont, he married the love of his life, the former Lynn Sory; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Jelinek served his country in the U.S. Army
  National Guard during the Vietnam War; he worked briefly in the
  banking industry and then found his career path through a job in
  paving and material sales; in 1979, he began a lengthy assignment
  with Bo-Mac Contractors, supervising the paving division and
  estimating state highway projects; he joined Williams Brothers
  Construction Company in 2001, and during his last few years with the
  company, he was supervisor of the Interstate 10 construction jobs
  from Beaumont to the Louisiana state line, making sure the highway
  construction met state specifications; dedicated to his work, he
  fulfilled his responsibilities until the day of his hospitalization
  in November 2015; and
         WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Jelinek benefited his industry
  in a number of leadership roles, among them chair and vice chair of
  the Beaumont area chapter of the Association of General
  Contractors, and he held state-level offices as well; he was a
  mentor to others, willingly sharing his knowledge and expertise;
  and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Jelinek was devoted above all to his loved ones,
  and he was the proud father of three children, Christopher,
  Allison, and Patrick; he always made time for their Little League
  baseball, youth football, and ballet recitals, and he enjoyed
  taking them hunting and fishing; he later knew the pleasure of
  welcoming into his family four treasured grandchildren, Grace Ann,
  Will, Lilly, and Caroline; and
         WHEREAS, Although Mike Jelinek is deeply missed, those he
  left behind will forever remember his kindness, warmth, and
  wonderful sense of humor; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert Michael
  Jelinek and extend sincere condolences to his loved ones; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Mike
  Jelinek.
