R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the deep sorrow felt |
|
by all Texans at the news of the recent bus crash in Uvalde County, |
|
which took the lives of 13 men and women who were attending a church |
|
retreat for the First Baptist Church of New Braunfels; and |
|
WHEREAS, On March 29, 2017, a bus carrying members of the |
|
church was heading southbound on Highway 83, on a return trip to New |
|
Braunfels, when a driver in the opposite lane lost control of his |
|
truck and veered into its path; only one passenger on the bus |
|
survived, Rose Mary Harris, 64, who is in our thoughts and prayers |
|
as she continues to recover from her injuries; and |
|
WHEREAS, The victims of this devastating accident were the |
|
driver of the bus, Murray William Barrett, 67, of New Braunfels; |
|
Howard Bryan Allen, 81, of New Braunfels; Rhonda Barlow Allen, 61, |
|
of New Braunfels; Harold Boyd Barber, 87, of New Braunfels; |
|
Margaret Robinson Barber, 82, of New Braunfels; Cristie Clare |
|
Moore, 68, of Cibolo; Donna Elizabeth Hawkins, 69, of Schertz; Avis |
|
Scholl Banks, 83, of Austin; Mildred Goodlett Rosamond, 87, of New |
|
Braunfels; Addie Maurine Schmeltekopf, 84, of New Braunfels; Sue |
|
Wynn Tysdal, 76, of New Braunfels; Martha Holcomb Walker, 84, of New |
|
Braunfels; and Dorothy Fern Vulliet, 84, of New Braunfels; and |
|
WHEREAS, These men and women were cherished parents and |
|
grandparents, valued members of their church congregation, and dear |
|
friends to countless people, and our hearts go out to the many loved |
|
ones they have left behind; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby express its sorrow over the loss of 13 treasured |
|
lives and extend deepest condolences to all those who mourn their |
|
passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That when the Texas House of Representatives |
|
adjourns this day, it do so in memory of the victims of this |
|
terrible tragedy. |
