R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A full and purposeful life drew to a close with the |
|
passing of Dorothy Wentrcek Cavett of Austin on April 19, 2017, at |
|
the age of 85; and |
|
WHEREAS, The only child of John E. and Martha Valchar |
|
Wentrcek, the former Dorothy Wentrcek was born on September 20, |
|
1931, in Granger; after graduating from Taylor High School in 1949, |
|
she moved to Austin, where she graduated from Durham Business |
|
College before embarking on a notable career in public service that |
|
spanned more than three decades; employed for a number of years in |
|
the Office of the Adjutant General, she later served from 1979 to |
|
1989 as the office manager for State Representative Jerry Clark; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Dorothy Cavett and her husband, Bobby, met while |
|
both were working for the adjutant general's office, and they |
|
shared 57 joyous years of marriage; she was a caring mother to her |
|
son, Kenneth Cavett, and her daughter, Nancy Martin, and she had the |
|
pleasure of seeing her family grow to include four grandchildren, |
|
Melanie Merton, Brian Cavett, and Ryan and Tyler Martin, as well as |
|
three great-grandchildren, Charlie, Robbie, and Will; and |
|
WHEREAS, Warm and outgoing, Dorothy Cavett helped to foster a |
|
sense of community in the Bryker Woods neighborhood, where she was a |
|
longtime resident, and she delighted in the company of a wide circle |
|
of friends; she was known for her love of cooking, and in |
|
retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling extensively, both |
|
within the United States and abroad; and |
|
WHEREAS, Dorothy Cavett brightened the world for all around |
|
her, and those who were blessed to share in her love and affection |
|
will forever carry her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Dorothy Wentrcek |
|
Cavett and extend sincere condolences to all those who mourn her |
|
passing; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dorothy |
|
Wentrcek Cavett. |
