R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Svaksha Iyengar, a senior at Prosper High School, |
|
|
has been named a finalist for a National Merit Scholarship; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship |
|
|
Program honors less than one percent of all high school seniors each |
|
|
year, based on their scores on the Preliminary Scholastic |
|
|
Assessment Test; the designation represents an opportunity for |
|
|
young men and women to compete for scholarship awards and win entry |
|
|
into some of the country's best schools; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, One of only three students at Prosper High School to |
|
|
be chosen as a National Merit Scholar finalist this year, Svaksha |
|
|
Iyengar has demonstrated exceptional scholastic aptitude, |
|
|
initiative, and leadership, all of which will undoubtedly benefit |
|
|
her in the future; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This scholastic achievement places Ms. Iyengar at |
|
|
the forefront of academic excellence in the nation, and she is a |
|
|
source of great pride for her family and her school; now, therefore, |
|
|
be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Svaksha Iyengar on her selection as |
|
|
a National Merit Scholarship finalist and extend to her sincere |
|
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Iyengar as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
