R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Northside Independent School District in San
  Antonio has been named the recipient of a Community Outdoor
  Outreach Program grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife
  Department; and
         WHEREAS, The Community Outdoor Outreach Program provides
  funding to local governments and nonprofit organizations that offer
  outdoor recreation, conservation, and environmental education
  activities to underserved populations; and
         WHEREAS, Northside ISD was awarded a $23,512 grant to support
  Project ACORN, which enables 900 students in kindergarten through
  eighth grade to participate in science-based excursions; through
  the program, these young scientists have the opportunity to study
  the aquatic habitats of Guadalupe River State Park and to take part
  in service projects that increase biodiversity in local ecosystems;
  and
         WHEREAS, By encouraging young Texans to appreciate and
  protect their environment, Northside ISD is helping to ensure the
  continued health and vitality of the Lone Star State's natural
  resources, and this grant will greatly enhance its efforts in that
  crucial endeavor; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Northside Independent School
  District on receiving a Community Outdoor Outreach Program grant
  from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and extend to all those
  associated with the district sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the district as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
