R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Northside Independent School District in San |
|
|
Antonio has been named the recipient of a Community Outdoor |
|
|
Outreach Program grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife |
|
|
Department; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Community Outdoor Outreach Program provides |
|
|
funding to local governments and nonprofit organizations that offer |
|
|
outdoor recreation, conservation, and environmental education |
|
|
activities to underserved populations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Northside ISD was awarded a $23,512 grant to support |
|
|
Project ACORN, which enables 900 students in kindergarten through |
|
|
eighth grade to participate in science-based excursions; through |
|
|
the program, these young scientists have the opportunity to study |
|
|
the aquatic habitats of Guadalupe River State Park and to take part |
|
|
in service projects that increase biodiversity in local ecosystems; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, By encouraging young Texans to appreciate and |
|
|
protect their environment, Northside ISD is helping to ensure the |
|
|
continued health and vitality of the Lone Star State's natural |
|
|
resources, and this grant will greatly enhance its efforts in that |
|
|
crucial endeavor; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Northside Independent School |
|
|
District on receiving a Community Outdoor Outreach Program grant |
|
|
from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and extend to all those |
|
|
associated with the district sincere best wishes for the future; |
|
|
and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the district as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
