R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The members of the Klein Oak High School color guard |
|
have distinguished themselves by winning the 2017 Winter Guard |
|
International World Championships, held April 6-8, in Dayton, Ohio; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Competing against more than 130 other teams in the |
|
Scholastic A division, the squad from Klein Oak dazzled judges with |
|
its performance of a production titled Jamie, advancing through the |
|
preliminary and semifinal rounds before claiming the crown with a |
|
score of 97.640 in the finals; and |
|
WHEREAS, The championship victory caps a memorable season in |
|
which the Klein Oak team earned top honors at the regional level, |
|
including a second-place showing at the Houston Color Guard Finals |
|
and first-place finishes at the San Antonio, Austin, and Southwest |
|
Power Regional Color Guard Finals; and |
|
WHEREAS, Excelling with a true team effort, the Klein Oak |
|
color guard received vital contributions throughout the year from |
|
each member of its roster, and the team was ably guided by band |
|
director Todd Clearwater and color guard director Stephanie Chavez; |
|
valuable support was also given by William LeVeck, Juan Ventura, |
|
Ashley Surbrook, Madelyn Kretz, Chad Berkstresser, and Jack |
|
Pursifull; and |
|
WHEREAS, These talented young performers have demonstrated |
|
exceptional skill and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and |
|
with their impressive showing in 2017, they have brought tremendous |
|
honor to their school and pride to their many supporters in the |
|
local community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Klein Oak High School color |
|
guard on winning the 2017 Winter Guard International World |
|
Championships in the Scholastic A division and extend to all those |
|
associated with the team sincere best wishes for continued success; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
