R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Emily Lopez has been presented with a Community |
|
|
Service Award from the TRIO Islanders Organization at Texas A&M |
|
|
University--Corpus Christi; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The TRIO Islanders Organization is part of the |
|
|
university's Programs for Academic Student Support (PASS) |
|
|
initiative, which furthers the goals of TAMU--CC by providing |
|
|
resources to low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented |
|
|
students; in receiving a Community Service Award, Ms. Lopez was |
|
|
recognized for participating in a number of local service projects |
|
|
coordinated by TRIO Islanders; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A sophomore at TAMU--CC, Ms. Lopez is working toward |
|
|
a degree in criminal justice with a minor in prelaw; after |
|
|
graduating, she plans to continue her study of law in order to |
|
|
pursue a career as an immigration attorney and to someday provide |
|
|
low-cost legal services to the residents of her hometown of |
|
|
Brownsville; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Emily Lopez is indeed deserving of this prestigious |
|
|
honor, and she may look forward to a future bright with promise; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Emily Lopez on her receipt of a |
|
|
TRIO Islanders Organization Community Service Award and extend to |
|
|
her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Lopez as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
