R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Ronny Barner is retiring as the minister to senior |
|
adults at West University Baptist Church in Houston on May 21, 2017, |
|
drawing to a close 55 years of dedicated service to that |
|
congregation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Pastor Barner joined the staff of West University |
|
Baptist in 1962, after completing his master's degree in church |
|
music at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and he has |
|
devoted his time, talents, and energies to the congregation ever |
|
since; before assuming his present role, he served for 37 years as |
|
the minister of music; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Pastor Barner has been blessed |
|
with the love and support of his wife, Ruth; the couple are the |
|
proud parents of a daughter, Bari Barner Brumfield, and their lives |
|
have been further enriched by their four grandchildren and their |
|
great-grandchild; and |
|
WHEREAS, For more than five decades, this inspiring clergyman |
|
has helped lead West University Baptist Church with conviction and |
|
compassion, and he has earned the lasting respect and admiration of |
|
his congregants as well as members of the greater community; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Ronny Barner for his service to West |
|
University Baptist Church and extend to him sincere best wishes as |
|
he embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Pastor Barner as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
