R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Skyler Barker has been presented with the 2016 Chief
  Floyd Simpson Police Officer of the Year award by the Kiwanis Club
  of Corpus Christi; and
         WHEREAS, A former marine and a four-year veteran of the
  Corpus Christi Police Department, Skyler Barker was appointed last
  year to the SWAT team and the Honor Guard; he was recognized by the
  Kiwanis Club for such outstanding efforts as making numerous drug
  and gun arrests and seizures, assisting detectives in a missing
  persons investigation, and leading crisis negotiations; in
  addition to conferring on him the Police Officer of the Year award,
  the Kiwanis Club designated him as Operations Bureau Officer of the
  Year; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of 2016, this esteemed law
  enforcement professional was also twice selected as Officer of the
  Month for the Charlie district, and he earned six letters of
  recognition; in all his endeavors, he is supported by the love and
  encouragement of his wife, Michelle; and
         WHEREAS, Admired for his courage, expertise, and unwavering
  dedication to duty, Officer Skyler Barker exemplifies the highest
  standards of his vocation, and he is indeed deserving of this
  prestigious recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Skyler Barker on receiving the 2016
  Chief Floyd Simpson Police Officer of the Year award from the
  Kiwanis Club of Corpus Christi and extend to him sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Officer Barker as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
