R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The year 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the |
|
|
founding of Hide-A-Way Lake Club, a residential community in Smith |
|
|
County; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established by James W. Fair in 1967, the club |
|
|
welcomed its first homeowners the following year; in 1969, the |
|
|
development expanded its golf course to 18 holes, installed an |
|
|
airstrip, and chartered a homeowners association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Over the ensuing decades, Hide-A-Way underwent |
|
|
dramatic growth; a volunteer fire department, library, and church |
|
|
were organized, street signs were erected, and a series of |
|
|
newspapers chronicled local events; in 2001, the City of Hideaway |
|
|
was officially incorporated along municipal boundaries matching |
|
|
exactly those of the club; today, the town is home to a population |
|
|
of more than 3,000; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Hide-A-Way Lake Club has played an important role in |
|
|
Smith County for the past half century, and it is a pleasure to |
|
|
recognize the community on the occasion of this milestone year in |
|
|
its history; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of Hide-A-Way |
|
|
Lake Club and extend to its residents sincere best wishes for the |
|
|
future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the club as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
