R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Matthew David Wurst is marking a significant
  milestone in his life in May 2017, when he graduates from Stephen F.
  Austin State University; and
         WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Tom and Ann Wurst, Matt
  Wurst was a member of the Class of 2013 at Cypress Falls High School
  in Houston, where he distinguished himself as a four-year member of
  the Golden Eagle Marching Band; a talented trumpet player, he also
  performed with the Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps for two
  seasons; and
         WHEREAS, While at SFA, Mr. Wurst demonstrated impressive
  dedication to his studies in pursuit of his bachelor's degree in
  political science; active in the college community, he served in a
  number of leadership roles in the Student Government Association
  and as director of sponsor relations for the Driving Jacks
  organization, and he has been a member of the SFA Employee Wellness
  program and the Sigma Iota Rho and Pi Sigma Alpha honor societies;
  in addition, he presented a talk in 2016 entitled "Political
  Participation and the Millennial Generation" at TEDxSFA and a
  paper entitled Women's Rights: The Fight for Education and Pay at
  the Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Wurst also worked as a community assistant in
  the Residence Life Department and as a student instructor and tutor
  for the Academic Assistance and Research Center; moreover, he
  counts among his proudest achievements serving as a legislative
  aide in the office of State Representative Travis Clardy during the
  85th Texas Legislature; and
         WHEREAS, Exciting challenges and opportunities await this
  outstanding young Texan, and he may indeed take great satisfaction
  in his accomplishments as he embarks on the next chapter of his
  life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Matthew David Wurst on his
  graduation from Stephen F. Austin State University and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Wurst as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
